     Dear Abby:  Our son Danny has a girlfriend whom he has been seeing for more than a year.  She’s 16.  She’s nice enough, but she’s very shy around us.  She will be quiet as a church mouse unless we say something.  Then she will smile and speak cordially in response.  We hope she might find a way to become a little more outgoing.—Frustrated Dad
