The Good Samaritan Tax Act

     America’s farmers and grocers have become so efficient that they have less remaining to donate to their needy neighbors.  At the same time, demand for help from food banks continues to climb, said Rep. Tony Hall.  He is working on a new bill that would offer tax deductions to food industry—like restaurants that cook too many pizzas and give the extras to local shelters, or to supermarkets that send extra produce to food banks.
