R&S 73 Lesson

Mike, Pam, Jeff, Jean and Jerry Shaw will be celebrating the Shaw Farms’ 200th anniversary this weekend.  Jerry Shaw, 78, began doing chores in 1934, when he was 5.  He grew up plowing fields with mules and horses.  Now he rides a John Deere tractor and drives a pickup truck to do chores seven days a week on his farm.  He still usually rises before the sun, at 4:30 or 5 a.m. Family members work about 640 acres on five farms they own, and they bring in produce from another 1,160 acres they lease in nearby counties.

Shaw’s grandsons are the seventh generation of Shaws in Ohio.
