Lesson R&S 85

Cell Phone Accident Link

Some state lawmakers want to know whether the increasing use of cell phones is leading to more accidents.  “Too many drivers lose track of what they’re doing when they’re talking on the telephone,” said State Representative Jeanine Perry.

No state bans the use of phones by drivers, but some require drivers to “give their full time and attention” to operating the vehicle.  What’s more, people can be charged for accidents that happen while they’re talking on the phone.
