Lesson R&S 90
Starbucks Fix
Before Howard Shultz agreed to come back to become CEO of Starbucks, the company he built from scratch, he had to get his kids’ blessing. After all, if Dad was going back to the grind he would be working 15 hour days. In the end, Dad prevailed. In Fortune Magazine, Shultz spilled the beans on his plans to save Starbucks from a threatening downturn: “With 50 million Starbucks customers per week, we need to reflect a laser focus on customers rather than efficiency and transactions. In the future you’ll see changes that significantly improve the customer experience.”
